Fighter Profile

I began working with R.I.E. MMA in May 2012. I worked to help promote a fight event via social media. I ended up working on a few online fighter profile videos as well. I love a job that allows me the flexibility to work on many types of projects at once!

This is a video that I put together with Final Cut. I shot the interview footage and I used pre-shot B footage. 

Stadium Woods

In early 2012, I became fascinated with the Blacksburg community’s efforts to preserve the old growth forest on Virginia Tech’s campus. Virginia Tech had formed a plan to build a football practice facility on part of the forest.  I ended up creating a short news package for one of my video production courses on the subject.

One of my main sources for this project was Rebekah Paulson.  Paulson co-organized Friends of Stadium Woods, a group that spread awareness, held presentations, and publicly protested the plans to cut down part of the woods and put an athletic facility in its place.

Rebekah Paulson introduced me to Dr. Jeff Kirwan. His unique statements about the importance of the forest inspired me to make him the focus of this video.

During my research, I learned more than I ever knew about old growth forests, I carted a tripod and two cameras around the woods, and I met some outstanding and dedicated community members. The spirit of this town is a major reason that I remained here after graduating.
